Star Party! Stargazing at Maudslay

Join the North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club in a Star party at Maudslay Park

Join the North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club for an evening of stargazing at Maudslay State Park. The night sky is spectacular when you can view it from the middle of a state park, where our street lights don’t spoil the view! Maudslay State Park teams up with the North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club to highlight the spectacular night sky.

Trunk or Treat at Ipswich YMCA

Ipswich Massachusetts YMCA wiil host a Halloween trunk or treat in their parking lot.

FREE FAMILY EVENT! Join in on the fun and decorate your trunk, wear a costume, and hand out candy or prizes. Winner of the best trunk will receive a special prize. Safety and sanitation guidelines will be enforced for this outside event! Be sure you register all members of your family by selecting the amount attending in the drop down menu when registering!

History Tour Series at Maudslay

Kids will learn about the sprawling estate that once existed at Maudslay State Park in Newburyport Massachusetts

There are so many stories about this beautiful former family estate. Join the park interpreter for this series of walks to view the house sites, gardens and farm complex to learn more about these areas of the Moseley Family estate. For ages 8 & up.

NYS Girls Night In

Girls night in is a chance for Middle School Aged girls to bond with friends through activities.

Newburyport Youth Services invites middle school aged girls to come celebrate their friendships, explore new activities and speak their minds in a 'girl's only' atmosphere. This is a hang out for 4th and 5th grade girls! There will be nail painting, temporary tattoos, friendship bracelet making, a self defense class courtesy of the Dojo and of course, snacks! This event is free.  Please register in advance- however, limited spots will be available at the door.

Wetland Wonders at IRWS

Explore the Bunker Meadow Pond at Ipswich river Wildlife Sanctuary in Topsfield Massachusetts

Wetlands are known for their rich variety of plant and animal life. Come explore Bunker Meadow Pond and the Ipswich River for a close-up look at a place where hundreds of hungry creatures are always on the hunt. Using nets and other collecting equipment, we'll dip into the water, sweep through the weeds, and scoop up some mud to discover the creatures that live there. Wear boots if you have them. For kids ages 3-11.

Fun in the Field at IRWS

Learn about butterflies and other field creatures at the MassAudubon Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary!

Fields are alive with animal activity on warm, fall days. Spend an early October day chasing butterflies, grasshoppers, and crickets with nets while taking some time to closely observe these amazing insects. We may also encounter predators of the field, such as Blue Birds, Leopard Frogs and Garter Snakes! This will be a hands-on experience the entire family can enjoy.

Salt Marsh Science Walk

Kids and families will learn about the marsh habitat with ECGA on a salt marsh sciece walk!

ECGA hosts a salt marsh science walk with a former research fellow from Marine Biological Laboratory to learn about salt marsh science. Join Jade Fiorilla, Northeastern graduate with degrees in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, for a walk to learn about the Great Salt Marsh. Jade has worked on the marsh at nearby Parker River National Wildlife Refuge as a research fellow with Marine Biological Laboratory. She recently completed research pulling together data from a long term study of marsh accretion and deposition events in the Plum Island sound.
