Come to the museum to join volunteers from Newhall Fields for a very special planting program. Kids will get a chance to plant seeds, learn more about the anatomy of seeds and plants, color, and dress up. This program is drop in from 1-3PM, and included with your admission to the 12-2PM or 2-4PM play session.
During the plant swap kids and kids of all ages can paint a pot and plant a seed of their choice. Bring it home your creation and watch it grow!
Parker River National Wildlife Refuge invites teens to join refuge staff and members of West Newbury Wild & Native for a workshop on the importance of collecting and sowing native seeds. Learn about local native plants and seed collecting, then rotate through stations to create 3-4 pots of different seed mixes to take home!
To encourage outdoor play and exploration of the great outdoors, this nature-based toddler playgroup will combine themed guided play with opportunities for free time for children and their caregivers to peek under rocks, inspect tree bark for hiding bugs and explore the gardens.
The Amesbury Public Library invites kids to make seed bombs! Come by after school and create a seed ball! Stop by and get a little messy with this fun project that helps spread native seeds around. All ages and everyone is welcome to make one. This program is outside and weather dependent!
PEM invites families to celebrate the upcoming summer solstice, a time of great momentum in the natural world, as well as the longest day of the year and the official start of summer.
Join the Park Interpreter on a walk to view the fantastic floral landscape and identify the different varieties of rhododendrons and azaleas in bloom! Maudslay State Park has one of the best stands of rhododendrons in New England, and well worth the trip! Come stroll the park check the sign at headquarters to find the park interpreter location and learn about some of these beauties.
Celebrate the return of spring with a visit to the Cape Ann Museum during April School Vacation Week! The Museum will be free for school-age children, 18 and under, and their guardians from Tuesday, April 18 – Friday, April 21. Explore the galleries with a scavenger hunt and family-friendly activities then head to the CAM Studio for an art project.
Planting sunflowers early attracts pollinators all season! Join beekeeping experts from the ECBA for this fun, free activity for the kiddos. Visit the sunflower table on the main lawn to plant and meet a beekeeper!
