Farmer for a Day | April Vacation Week
In the spring, the farmers at Appleton are busy planting vegetables and caring for the new life on the farm. There is no better place to spend spring farm days than in exploring in the fields & forests and learning to love the outdoors in all seasons! This program is for kids who are looking to make friends, explore the farm, and learn about life in New England in spring. Every day will include an outdoor adventure of hiking, a theme-based craft, a farm learning activity, and other farm explorations.
Friendship Bracelet Making at MPL
Create friendship bracelets with youth expert June B.! June has been making bracelets for years, and sharing the craft with family and friends is one of her favorite activities! After teaching her 8-year-old brother how to make bracelets last summer, then attending a fall craft night at the Manchester-by-the-Sea library, she thought it would be fun to offer this class to the youth community. The library will supply the materials and snacks so bring yourself and some friends. Registration is required.
Li Liu Presents: Traditions of Chinese Acrobatics
Internationally acclaimed artist Li Liu will dazzle us with Chinese acrobatics including plate spinning, hand balancing, ribbon twirling, and more! Families of all ages are invited to experience this amazing performance that will take place at the Hamilton-Wenham Recreation Dept. Gymnasium, adjacent to the library.
Shadow Puppets with Mr. Vinny
TOHP Burnham Public Library hosts Shadow Puppets with Mr. Vinny! Kiddos, ages 3 and older, don't miss this very special event. As Mr. Vinny says, it's "Very silly! Very interactive! Not the traditional stuff."
Movie Morning: Paddington
Bring a stuffy and a snack for Movie Morning! This week we will be screening "Paddington" (PG) starting at 10 AM. Run time 1 hour 35 minutes.
Firehouse Center: February Vacation Teen Intensive
Kids ages 13-17 are encouraged to enroll in a week long intensive program focused on theater acting techniques during February Vacation week! During this week, each individual will have the opportunity to explore improvisation, theatre games, and delve into an intense, week-long rehearsal process for Disney’s High School Musical. They will be educated in music, acting, and dance all while working towards three final performances on Friday, February 24th at 7:00 PM, Saturday, February 25th at 7:00 PM and Sunday, February 26th at 2:00 PM.
February Vacation Drop-In Family Day
Are you looking for something to do with your family during February vacation? You’re invited to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes at the Addison Gallery of American Art and how exhibitions come together through demonstrations and hands-on activities. Those of all ages are welcome, and children must be accompanied by an adult. This event is free and open to the public.
Beaded Snowflakes Crafting at NPL
Come to the library to make snowflakes using pipe cleaners and pony beads. Simple, easy fun! Kids of all ages and abilities welcome. Please note there will be small beads in the room and caregivers will need to monitor any young children they bring.
Family Zumba at Pathways
Pathways for Children offers a FREE mid-February Vacation Zumba session for families! Come to the The Open Door for a fun dance session that is bound to get the sillies out! Choose from two session times taught by Manchester Athletic Club Gymazing Dance Instructor Lindsay Mzaouakk! Space is limited so register today!
Rube Goldberg Machines at Maritime Gloucester
Maritime Gloucester invites kids to a vacation week session where they'll make a 'Rube Goldberg' machine - part of a week full of educational sessions during February vacation! Cartoonist Rube Goldberg was known for drawing complex yet impractical machines, involving multiple steps to accomplish simple tasks. After looking at Goldberg’s humorous comics for inspiration, students will engineer a Rube Goldberg machine. Using marbles, Lego bricks, wooden blocks, dominoes, and much more, we’ll build and test intricate machines as we learn about energy, momentum, and engineering.
