Join the Spring Quiche Culinary Workshop at Appleton Farms in Ipswich Massachusetts

Join The Trustees of Reservations at the farm for a Spring Quiche Culinary Workshop! In this workshop, participants will learn how to make a fluffy, rich quiche using seasonal vegetables from the farm and local dairy from our partners. Learn the secrets to a sturdy crust and a perfectly set interior. Class will end with quiche to share and a recipe packet to take home!

Teen Paint Night: Winter Watercolors

Take a moment this month and join Teen Librarian Katy to try your hand at watercolor painting. It's time to catch our breaths and slow down. After watching a brief watercolor video all together, you will use the provided materials to conjure up your own winter scenes on paper and check out what others are doing at the same time.

Movement Mapping at IPL

Movement Sessions with Jenny Carlson form High Street Studios at the Ipswich Public Library in Massachusetts.

For students in grades 1 to 5.  Jenny Carlson (form High Street Studio in Ipswich) will be the instructor of a Movement mapping program which contains a STEM activity and the art of dance.  Symbols designate different dance moves and students draw and design their own choreography map!  The participants will perform the dance that they drafted on paper and then the dancers will perform each other's movement maps.  Math, science, and dance all in the same program.

After exploring our maple sugaring tools, use our hand drill to practice tapping a tree! We’ll go through the whole process from maple sugar tree ID to boiling sap, and we’ll be sure to play along the way. Our knowledgable educator will answer your questions so you can be a sugar maker at home. We’ll finish up with a story– and, of course, a maple syrup sample!

Each class will involve a hands-on experience preparing the courses of each menu, as well as demonstrations at the wood-fired oven. Join Appleton Baker, Kami Turgeon, to learn the secrets to a perfectly flaky, sturdy pie crust and all the sweet details of making the perfect Apple Pie, with variations. Crumble top, lattice top, double crust, pie art (yes, that’s a thing!) – we’ll cover it all. Participants will enjoy hands-on experience making pie dough by hand and will take home a prepped pie, ready for the oven! Class will end with a shared pie a la mode.
