Pingree School invites prospective students, parents, and guardians to come and learn
about Pingree’s academic and co-curricular programs. Attendees will meet students and teachers, attend sample classes, and hear from the associate head of school, faculty and students.
Local artist, storyteller and teacher Ann McCrea will help kids use modeling clay to sculpt a rabbit or coyote! CLAY♦WORKS combines the magic of storytelling with clay sculpting. The 70-minute CLAY•WORKS program teaches kids from 1st-6th grade [ages 5-11]. Sitting in a circle on the floor, Ann tells a story which evokes their interest and creativity.
The Trustees and New England Sculptors Association are partnering to present a 6-month outdoor sculpture exhibition at Castle Hill on the Crane Estate located at 290 Argilla Road in Ipswich. The “Spirit of Place" exhibition includes 32 pieces created by New England's finest sculptors and placed in gardens, along woodland paths and alongside historic landscape features. This curated show opens May 18 and closes on November 11, 2019.
Bring your toddler to Cape Ann Museum on the second Thursday of each month from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for Young at Art, a gallery-based storytime! Recommended for children ages 4 and younger with an adult. This drop-in program is free for members or with Museum admission. Brian Murphy is a self-taught artist who started Totally Wired Sculpture in 2002. His work can be seen as lighthearted line drawings in the medium of steel wire. The goal of each piece is to create a kinetic movement from the tension in the wire so that the figures seem to dance or sway on their own and appear enlivened! Come to this demonstration and learn how to make your own! No experience necessary an all supplies with be supplied. Please register at the library.
Ready, set, paint! Drop by the activity center for art supplies and enjoy painting inside or outside the Museum. Offered on Wednesdays in July and August starting July 11. No registration required. Free for members or with Museum admission.
Cape Ann residents — Gloucester, Essex, Rockport and Manchester-by-the-Sea — are welcome to enjoy the special exhibition Unfolding Histories (as well as all the other exhibits on view) on the fifth day of each month.
How did Cape Ann children play, learn, dress and think throughout history? Learn the answers with docent Trudi Olivetti during this all ages family tour. Learn calligraphy basics with specialist Albina Papows. Inspired by the special exhibition Unfolding Histories: Cape Ann before 1900. Write your name, use calligraphy tools and leave with a sampler to take home. This family workshop is recommended for children 7 and up with an adult. Registration required.
