We’ll be leading a short paddle down river to the historic Peatfield landing where we’ve installed the our newest kiosk. Then we’ll return to Riverbend for ice cream, soda, beer, music and games. Bring a flashlight and climb Sagamore Hill to watch one of the year's best meteor showers. The North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club members will also have their telescopes set up, so you can take turns taking a closer look at galaxies, nebulae, stars, planets and more! The Club members will answer your questions about the night sky while you enjoy the Aquarids Meteor Shower.
YMCA of the North Shore Gala is coming in two parts due to the COVID pandemic this year! Part 1 is a virtual celebration happening in November 2021, with a live in-person celebration being planeed at the new Glen T. MacLeod Cape ann YMCA in Gloucester to follow in the Spring of 2022.
Get into the Halloween spirit! Examine live creepy crawlies, enjoy (semi) spooky attractions, and take home creative crafts. For ages 7 and up, explore a “crime scene” and perform a series of forensic investigations (e.g., soil sample comparisons, water sampling, chromatography, pH tests, and track identification) to solve the mystery and pinpoint the culprit. For ages 2 to 6, there will be stories and songs, silly and festive crafts, and a kooky treasure hunt. Family presentations will be offered at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Fly in on your broom for an hour or stay all day for some fun pre-Halloween family time!
Salute the United States Armed Forces at the Wenham Museum’s Military History Day. Uniformed members of the Living History Association will be on the museum’s lawn available to answer questions, show memorabilia from the Civil War through WWII, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the beginning of WWI and help you explore inside antique military vehicles.
Come to Wenham Museum dressed in your holiday finery and help sugar coat a group gingerbread house with Fancy Nancy's swanky neighbor Mrs. Devine. Be inspired by the museum's Gingerbread Express featuring a holiday train traveling through a candy-covered gingerbread village. Appropriate for children ages 4+.
Note: Due to the weather, the festival of light location has been changed to take place at the Library! The Newbury Town Library invites you to come celebrate music and light on the Upper Green! Karen K & The Jiiterbugs and the Plum Island Pans will play, and we'll end the evening with a lantern parade around the green. Pack a picnic, and grab some friends and family.
