Ukrainian Egg Workshop for Teens

Join Hamilton Wenham Library in Massachusetts for a workshop on making Ukrainian Eggs.

Join us for a workshop on making Ukrainian Eggs!  Presented by Kati Bourque, Head of Technical Services here at the Hamilton-Wenham Library. Learn a brief history of this tradition, then dive into creating your own Ukrainian Egg. This workshop session is reserved for teens in grades 6 through 12.  Registration is required.  All supplies will be provided. You will be using permanent dye and wax, so wear your getting messy clothes.

This program is geared towards teens and adults, as you will be handling a raw egg, a lit candle, and permanent dyes.

Bring the energy of the season into your home or onto your door with our Fall Wreath Workshop, partnered with bioregional herbalist and foraging instructor, Iris Weaver. In this hands-on workshop, create a 8” to 12” unique wreath using foraged dried plant stalks, pine cones, nuts, acorns, and more! Bring a glue gun (preferably one with a trigger), plenty of glue sticks, and a box to carry home your creation All other materials will be provided.

It’s a Hard Dock Life at Maritime Gloucester

Finding and Identifying Marine Invasive Species at Maritime Gloucester in Massachusetts as partof Trails& Sails

Maritime Gloucester invites participants to pull up dock lines on the pier and see what marine creatures we can find! Using magnifying glasses, microscopes, and identification cards, we’ll discover as many marine invasive critters as we can. After investigating the dock, we encourage families to explore the Maritime Gloucester Campus, including the Seapocket Aquarium, the Marine Science & Education Center, and Gorton’s Seafood Gallery of Maritime Heritage in Gloucester, all free of charge.

Backyard Growers brings a fun outdoor children's gardening program to the library! Children will plan, plant, water, weed, maintain & harvest a garden at the library all summer in this series of Thursday morning events. Learn about gardening as we share books and stories while exploring the process of growing. The ecology focused summer reading theme of Read, Renew, Repeat strives to bring attention to our natural world, as well as caring for the environment.  Located at the library raised garden bed on the Middle Street side of the Saunders House (88 Middle Street.)

Seed Starting & Fairy Gardens with Backyard Growers and SFL in Gloucester Massachusetts

Join Sawyer Free Library and Backyard Growers as we welcome Spring making fairy gardens and planting seeds! This children's program is free and materials will be provided for starting seeds, planting, and setting up for the fairies to take up residence! This event will take place at the Backyard Growers office, the entrance of which is located in the back parking lot area of 103 Rear Maplewood Avenue. Attendees will  plant seeds and decorate their seed trays with all the classic components of a fairy house. Use sticks, stones, moss, and more to design a garden fit for a fairy!
