March is a great month to look for owls. Both Great Horned and Barred owls will have babies in their nests, so these species tend to be vocal and active. Everyone loves owls! Yet, how many of us have ever seen a live owl up close? With Eyes On Owls, Naturalist Marcia Wilson and photographer Mark Wilson will introduce you to six different live owls from New England and far beyond. Some owls, like the Great Horned, Barred and Eastern Screech Owls are fairly common in our area. Others, like Snowy Owls, Great Grays, and Boreal Owls, are rather rare.
The Superbowl of Birding 2024 is a unique competition conducted in Rockingham County, NH, and Essex County, MA. During a 12-hour period, teams of birders of all ages and abilities seek out the greatest number of avian species and amass the most points based on the rarity of the birds recorded. Teams compete this year for prizes in 11 categories. Enjoy spectacular winter birding and find out just how good you and your team really are!

Join us for a winter solstice celebration, welcoming the returning light and all the beauty that this season offers. We will kick off the event with a walk into Camp from Battis Farm. Enjoy a tour of the meadows and listen to the sounds of our resident winter birds. We will have a fire and drink warm beverages, while roasting marshmallows. If there is a snow cover, there will be opportunities to learn a bit about tracking, and overwintering animal behaviors. For those of us wanting to get crafty, there will be materials to create ornaments for your holiday tree or a favorite window.
