NU Marine Science Center Open House

All are invited to the Northeastern University Marine Science Center Annual Open House! You'll learn from researchers about marine habitats, meet some of creatures living there and explore the habitat in real time. In addition to some faithful standards such as touch tanks and tours of East Point, the Center will be showcasing the work and talent of its research labs and academic programs. With a half dozen new faculty members in the past year, there’s a lot more to explore!

Come see the shorebirds and marine mammals of the Merrimack River.

Lisa Hutchings Teacher-Naturalist from Mass Audubon's Joppa Flats Education Center and the crew of Newburyport Harbor Tours Inc.'s Yankee Clipper invite you and your family for an exciting exploration of the lower Merrimack River ecosystem. Whalemobile at Maritime Gloucester

The Whalemobile comes to Maritime Gloucester.

The Whalemobile is coming to Maritime Gloucester! Join whale naturalist Cynde McInnis for a very special Creature of the Week, featuring a life-sized inflatable humpback whale named Nile. Kids will develop an awareness of and fascination for whales that inspires them to care about the oceans and the wild world around us. Great for PreK - 6 yrs with an adult.

Eco-Art: River Ecology

Explore the ecology of the Ipswich River through craft and hiking!

We will construct a simple sailboat from bark and leaves, and then we will hike to the river to sail our tiny schooners. Using strainers and buckets, we will dip for organisms from the river's edge, look for evidence of beavers, and scan for birds from the observation tower.
