Movies on the Common: Holes

Movie on the Common are hosted by the Salem Massachusetts Common Neighborhood Association featuring Disney's Holes

Grab a blanket and the kids and head over to Salem Common at dusk for an outdoor showing of some favorite family-friendly movies under the Stars! Come to Salem Common to watch the Disney Holes staring a young Shia LaBeouf! Plot: Dogged by bad luck stemming from an ancient family curse, young Stanley Yelnats (Shia LaBeouf) is sent to Camp Green Lake, a very weird place that's not green and doesn't have a lake. Once there, he's thrown headlong into the adventure of his life when he and his colorful campmates - Squid, Armpit, ZigZag, Magnet, X-Ray and Zero - must dig a hole a day to keep the warden at bay. But why? Through it all, Stanley and company must forge fast friendships as they try to unearth the mystery of what's really going on in the middle of nowhere.

Patton Homestead Military Service Day

Come experience miltary history and family fun at the Patton Homestead in Hamilton Massachusetts

The mission of this public event is to highlight and honor military service and veterans. The event is a day-long exhibition of vintage military vehicles, equipment, military reenactors, speakers – both veterans and academics – and other veteran-related attractions, held on the grounds of the home of one of America’s most famous and celebrated military families. Family Friendly Fun at Parker River NWR

Family fun at Joppa Flats Education Center and Parker River National Wildlife Refuge in Newburyport Massachusetts

Bring your little ones for a day of family friendly fun! This is an effort to connect families to bring youth closer to nature through learning, exploration and creating art. Start at the Joppa Flats Education Center (10am-12:30pm) to meet tide pool critters. Then, bring your bagged lunch over to the Parker River Visitor Center for a picnic in the pollinator garden at noon, followed by creating a nature-themed mural (1-2:30pm).
