Sawyer Free Library celebrates native American History Month with 'Fast Hawk', a member of the Micmac Northeast American Tribe! He will be bringing feathers, claws, animal skulls, a talking stick, pipes, stories, and more to this informative celebration!  All ages welcome. No sign-ups required.

You'll also hear a bit of the inspiring story of the original owner, women's rights advocate Judith Sargent Murray (1751-1820).

SalemRecycles hosts a textile recycling drive! Salem Massachusetts

SalemRecycles is hosting their annual textile recycling event! Clean out your closets the green way - drop off USABLE and UNUSABLE textiles at SalemRecycles' fifth annual Clothing and Textile Recycling Drive. Look for the Goodwill truck in Riley Plaza (212 Washington Street, Salem). Usable items will be sold in Goodwill stores; unusable items will be recycled into new products.

USA Hockey and Cape Ann Youth Hockey invite kids ages 4-9 to come try hockey for free in Gloucester!  If your child has shown interest in learning to skate, or just a genereal interest in team sports, hockey coudl be for them! Come to The Dorothy Talbot Rink to come try youth hockey as part of Come Play Hockey Month.  Limited equipment will be available for use.

Cranberry Workshop at the Crane Estate

Come to the Crane Estate for a cranberry workshop!

For more than one hundred years, wild cranberries have grown in the sand dunes behind Crane Beach. With our staff naturalist as your guide, join us for this cranberry workshop. You'll learn about the history and habits of this local fruit, and get a boots-on-the-ground feel for the matrix of trails that crisscross Castle Neck. When you finally arrive at the bog (our largest and most hidden) you'll have the opportunity to pick cranberries. Later, we'll head up to the Great House kitchen on Castle Hill to make something tasty. We'll even send you home with a few of our favorite Thanksgiving recipes!

Ipswich Museum invites kids and their families to a Gingerbread House Workshop!  The holidays wouldn’t be complete without a gingerbread house! Our hands-on, no-baking family class will supply each adult and child with all the materials needed to build your own candy decorated gingerbread house.  All ages!  We suggest adult assistance for children under 8.  Cost: $45 per family (this includes everything you need to go home with a completely decorated house).

The Headless Horseman Rides Again! This Friday 10/23 at 7pm in the Ipswich Meeting House, storyteller J.T. Turner portrays Washington Irving telling his most famous tale, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Taking on all the roles of this Halloween tale, Turner has adapted the piece to keep all ages entertained. It is story theater at its best.
