You're invited to Parker River National Wildlife Refuge to learn about the endangered birding as part of Trails and Sail. Plum Island is a bird magnet. We will walk from the salt marsh to the dunes overlooking the ocean using the Hellcat Boardwalk, then go out on the dike to see many of the habitats in the Great Marsh and the birds that are there in the late fall. Plum Island is an important stopover for birds migrating back south after breeding in the Arctic tundra and the forests of Canada and northern New England, providing food to fuel their onward journey to avoid the cold and dark of winter. We will have an easy walk of about a mile over two hours.
Salisbury Beach celebrates Salisbury Days with free rides! Free Rides from Noon-4pm
The Fish Box Derby Race is a family event that focuses on teamwork and fun! Contestants race their own cars, built on their design and with the assistance of their parent, grandparent, or other adult influence in their lives. Boys and Girls from ages eight to fourteen are eligible to enter (there are no fees to enter). The cars reflect each individual style and mechanical abilities.
Local HW hosts the 5th annual LocalHW Fall Festival, where we bring together local small businesses, live music, food trucks, a beer and wine garden and fun family activites for a great day for our community. We thank our sponsors Hamilton Development Corporation and Salem Five Charitable Trust for helping to make this wonderful day happen!
Set sail on a full-scale replica of the famous 1812 privateer schooner FAME. FAME is a replica of a privateer schooner that sailed from Salem during the War of 1812! We sail up to five times a day between May and October from Pickering Wharf in Salem.
STEAM story time for children ages 6-10 incorporates science concepts with stories and activities. This month, join us to dig into what fossils are and how they are found! We will use tools like shovels, paint brushes, and tweezers to excavate our own dig sites. Be ready for a dino-mite story time!
