Maudslay State Park has a strong connection to the arts. Join the interpreter for this art program incorporating natural materials gathered and assembled into a piece of art that will be reclaimed by nature. Photo cataloging will be used for the website. This program teaches cooperation, and creative thinking, as well as problem-solving, all in the great outdoors. This is a fun evening activity for the whole family!
Parker River National Wildlife Refuge invites families to join Katie Hone, The Monarch Gardener, for this fun and interesting one hour program about the monarch butterfly. The program will include a presentation about monarchs with interactive role playing and live animals AND making milkweed “seed bombs” (to take home). Meet, tag and release live monarch butterflies to the wild! This program is geared to younger children and their parents. This program will take place in the refuge visitor center classroom. NO preregistration for this program.
Manchester Public Library Seaside Knitwits are knitting and crocheting hats for Boston children (sizes infant through 18 years old) in need finishing and packing on November 4th, at 4 PM.
Seaside Knitwits is the recently, and loosely formed, Manchester Public Library group that is anyone interested in helping with this endeavor. All hats will be packed to be mailed at this November meeting, in plenty of time for the Caps for Beantown (a registered 501c3 group) to receive and distribute in time for cold weather.
Come to Flint Library for refreshments, crafts, and a countdown to noon! This celebration is perfect for little ones who want to celebrate the New Year, but may be too young to stay awake until midnight. Make your own party hat, create a festive collage, and help us to welcome 2020! This party is for kids of all ages.
Sawyer Free Library invites kids and families to celebrate the Holidays at a Harry Potter themed party during the Middle Street Walk 2024! Come for a jolly journey around the Wizarding World! It will be a Happy Holiday at Hogsmeade as we sample butterbeer, as well as many more activities such as wand-making, the sorting hat, a photo booth, family trivia, crafts, and more!
How long does trash last? Come to the library for a fun recycling activity with Barbara Roy! Kids will learn what kinds of trash last and for how long a time, and how to protect sea creatures by keeping that trash out of the ocean. Barbara Roy is a 20-year Marblehead resident who recently crossed the Atlantic on a scientific mission to study micro-plastics. Children are invited to this interactive program, chosen as part of our Green Paws activity series.
The Masonic Lodge in Ipswich is hosting an open house with lots of Halloween fund for the kids! Put on a costume and come to the lodge for trick or treating, face-painting and pumpkin decorating. There will also be a blood drive and a caaned/dried food collection for the Ipswich Food Pantry.
Fall Farm Fun!! Get Ready for a Spooktastic Night on the Farm. Come for a fun night at the farm with goats, haunted barn, campfire, and a hayride. Recommended for Adults and 8-16yo must be supervised by an Adult. Please use good judgement when bringing children under the age of 12 as this event will have moments of darkness and scary-fun tales.
We will meet at the Great Woods parking lot entrance to Lynn Woods and hike a loop trail around watershed land on the north side of Walden Pond. Hike is about 3.5 miles and should take about 2 hours. Dogs (on leash) and Children welcome. Please be able to keep up a 2 mph pace (usually not a problem for children). This is a moderate difficulty hike with some steep sections. Rain date Saturday 10/30 at the same time and place.
