Maritime Gloucester students will learn collograph print making with local artist Camilla MacFadyen. You will build collograph printing plates out of seaweed collected on site and print some 30 yards of blue and green silk charmeuse and organza with the patterns of the sea.
Students will also print several species of local fish onto more brightly colored silk, sew them and stuff them into pillows. The pillows can be taken home by students. The other elements will be incorporated into a floor to ceiling virtual aquarium and installation in the Boat Shop at Maritime Gloucester. It will be approximately six feet in diameter and 16 feet tall.
