Annual Danvers Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast will raise funds for local kids

Come join the Danvers Kiwanis Club for their 49th annual Pancake Breakfast. This is one of the clubs biggest fundraisers. Thanks to those that come and support us we have been able to donate over $600,00 to the Danvers Community. Price includes Pancakes, Juice, Milk, Coffee, Sausages and Ham! Best deal in town come support the Danvers Kiwanis and catch up with friends. Tickets are available from Kiwanis members or at the door.

Percussionist Tupac Mantilla performs a free concert at Rockport Music's Shalin Liu Center for Performing Arts

Sowah Mensah is an ethnomusicologist, composer and a “Master Drummer” from Ghana, West Africa. Sowah has taught music in both Ghana and Nigeria and is currently a music professor at both Macalester College, and the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN where he also directs each school’s African Music Ensemble. In addition, he is currently a James Marsh Professor-at-Large at the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT and directs the African Music Ensemble at the University of Minnesota. Sowah is the director of Sankofa, a Ghanaian Folklore and Dance Ensemble in the Twin Cities and a member of Speaking in Tongues, a four-piece group based out of the Twin Cities that uses two percussionists, a bassist and a Chinese pipa player.  Free, no tickets required.

The Brass Project is a brass sextet formed by leading players from the Curtis Institute. These “six superb Curtis brass players” (Philadelphia Inquirer) united around a shared set of multifaceted goals: to expand the repertoire for chamber brass, to record and distribute new works, and to engage with a wide community through outreach and educational programs. The Brass Project gives innovative and creative performances designed for a diverse demographic by performing repertoire specifically commissioned by the ensemble.  Free, no tickets required.
