Winter is the perfect time of year to go out in search of owls. Before we head out on our adventure, we'll learn about these fascinating birds in our Nature Center using real owl mounts, feathers, and talons. We'll end our exploration with an owl-hooting lesson!

Share your passion for the outdoors, exchange hiking stories, and make new friends along the way. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a novice trail enthusiast, everyone is welcome to be part of this inclusive gathering.
Enjoy a lantern-guided night hike full of reflection and positive energy with The Trustees at Ward Reservation. As we reach the top of Holt Hill and the trees part to reveal a sky full of stars, participants will be greeted by glowing fire pits, s’mores and a fire spinning performance by Phoebe Flows.
Join a refuge ranger for a guided walk in the winter landscape at Parker River. We will discuss various adaptation strategies birds and animals use when winter's chill comes calling. Learn how you might adapt to and even enjoy winter! If snow is present, we will look for tracks in the snow.
Join Essex County Trail Association Middleton Stream team for a hike in the winter woods! We will hike through the woods, past Boston Brook, old stone walls, wetlands, and beaver dams. Participants should arrive by 12:45.
Join Hamilton-Wenham Recreation to enjoy the “Wolf" Full Moon with guided walks, treats, fire-pits and a craft for kids! Hike one or both routes, or just come out to enjoy a warm drink by the fire in the light of the full moon. Fire-pits, warm drinks, light snacks and a “wolf moon” inspired craft are included in the registration fee.
