MIT Museum Second Friday January 2014 features MIT+K12 videos

Get a jump start on your weekend with the Second Friday Program at the MIT Museum! The January 2014 Second Friday introduces visitors to MIT's +K12 Video Production Program and the students that continue to make it happen. Learn how MIT students from MIT+K-12 are changing the way that students learn. Students will demo live experiments to show how cool science can actually be - moving away from just memorizing equations and symbols out of a textbook. From color-changing chemical reactions to autonomous flying robots, we'll show you a different side of numbers and equations!

Santa vs. the Snowman will be playing at MOS Boston through December 31!

From the Academy Award-nominated team that brought you Jimmy Neutron comes the uproarious IMAX® holiday film Santa vs. the Snowman. Witness the misadventures of a lonely snowman who discovers Santa’s Village and is swept away by its magical wonders. Soon, however, he becomes jealous of Santa and the attention he gets during Christmas time. The snowman wages an epic-scale polar war on Santa, and a hilarious battle ensues, complete with a holiday arsenal of hot chocolate squirt guns, giant igloo robot walkers, and even a 50-foot-tall toy soldier manned by Santa himself.

In  “Crowning Glory” Wenham Museum celebrates the ultimate accessory—the hat.  As the seasons change, the exhibit will follow suit with the hats on display, moving from delicate spring florals and pale felt fedoras to big bright flowers and hats to keep the summer rays away. 

In September, the three-season celebration of the hat in West Gallery begins it's last chapter. Airy summer chapeaux will give way to the rich colors and textures of our collection of fall and winter hats--from luxurious velvet, padded silk, feather and fur to the humble hand-knitted stocking cap. Hats to keep you warm and hats to make you glamorous including a selection of over-the top cocktail hats and whimsies.

PizzaFest and Annual Auction 2013 at Children's Museum of NH

The Pizza Fest and Annual Auction has food and family fun at the NH Children's .

The 2013 PizzaFest features all-you-can-eat pizza from popular area restaurants as well as an extensive Silent Auction, and all proceeds benefit the museum’s innovative education and outreach programs! Pizza aficionados of all ages can cast their votes for best regional pizza restaurants at the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire’s Fifth Annual PizzaFest and Holiday Auction. The event will be held from 5-8 pm at the Children’s Museum of NH in Dover. Attendees will be able to sample different varieties of pizza from local purveyors, then vote for their favorites. All proceeds benefit the museum’s innovative education and outreach programs. Pizza Tasting spots are limited, so make sure you reserve a spot today!

Rescue Railroad Model Train Layout at Wenham Museum

Calling all Train fans. Come to Wenham Museum Veterans Day weekend to explore the dramatically humorous model train layout, “Rescue Railroad.” See classic and contemporary model trains racing around the tracks, rescuing passengers from burning buildings throughout the busy town! Loops of standard-gauge track will be set up around the outskirts of a quaint village with shops, diners, and old-fashioned fire stations, including a fire house built completely out of Lego bricks.

The Children's Museum of New Hampshire is welcoming colossal canine Clifford The Big Red Dog  As part of the Books Alive program. Museum staff will be reading a variety of Clifford stories written by Norman Bridwell throughout the day. The big friendly dog himself will be popping in and out to greet children, exchange a hug or high-five, and pose for photos. There will also be a variety of dog-inspired literacy, math and creative activities for children to participate in.
