Step back into the 1920s during this season’s monthly Open Houses at The Stevens-Coolidge Place. Curious to see the full house? Join the Trustees for full house tours being offered every half hour from 10am to 2pm on a first come, first serve basis. The last house tour will begin around 1:30. The tours will bring you through the whole house and will lead you in the story of Helen and John Coolidge.
Kids are invited to the The Marblehead Museum & Historical Society for a gingerbread workshop! Come create your own entry for the 2025 Marblehead Gingerbread Festival. Two workshops are schedule for kids ages 2-4 (with adult) at 1pm and kids 5-10 are at 3pm. Registration required.
Appleton Farms' final two Farmers Markets of the year are coming up soon. November 13th will be our Late Fall Farmers Market, perfect for your pre-Thanksgiving shopping. Our Holiday Market will be on December 11th, with lots of items for your winter holiday gift giving, dinners or gatherings.
Maritime Gloucester kicks off Shark Week with a great experiential learning craft that's as fun as it is educational! Visitors of all ages are invited to participate in the Shark Week Chalkquarium! Drop by for this free event to draw a "Great White Chalk" and other life-sized sharks and rays on the pavement around Maritime Gloucester! All of our regularly-scheduled drop-in programs will also be shark-themed until August 10.
Celebrate World Oceans Day with Salt! Salt is a real humpback whale who spends her summer in the waters off Massachusetts and is among the most famous whales in the world today. She was first seen in the mid 1970s here in Massachusetts Bay and has been seen just about every year since. Explore inside a 40 foot inflatable replica of Salt and learn about her and her whale family-she has had at least ten calves since researchers started studying her. Wee Farmers is designed for our 3-5 year old friends who want to explore the farm, meet our animals, and get a taste of what Farm Camp is like at Appleton! You’ll get to dig into life on the farm and lend a helping hand brushing our goats, feeding our bunnies, making butter and taste testing in the education garden! Learn about how we grow our vegetables and see how good your senses are with Harvest Blanket. Meet our cows and learn how we milk them. We’ll start our morning with a quick craft before venturing out for some farm discovery and nature exploration.
See the Museum through the eyes of a child with this animated family tour of paintings, sculpture and maritime objects. Learn to think and see like an artist, a fisherman or quarry worker. Created for children ages 3–12 with their caregivers. This 30-minute tour ends in the Activity Center for art projects and play. Free for CAM members or with Museum admission. Space is limited, registration required.
Salem residents & property owners (with ID or tax bill) can recycle e-waste on the last Saturday of the quarter at Salem High School, 77 Willson St. Please stay in your vehicle the whole time and have your items ready to unload in your trunk, truck bed or hatchback – items will not be unloaded from car seats. Join HER Wellness & The Trustees to celebrate the summer solstice at Ward Reservation! Participants will enjoy hiking up to the solstice stones to practice an all-levels yoga flow under the sunset and glowing moon. There, we will embrace the sun reaching its highest peak and welcome the fruitful summer upon us, both inside and out! Handcrafted herbal tea and bath salts created for the astrological moment will be provided, along with self-care tips for the summer season.
