Thompson Street Reservation

The Thompson Street reservation features exposed bedrock, vernal pools, woodland and swamp. There are traces of many trails that used to be wagon paths for early settlers to access their woodlots, but have since been overgrown with scrub growth due to numerous fires. Allowed activities: horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, nature study, picnicking, snowshoeing.
Long Hill and Sedgwick Gardens
These 100 year old gardens are comprised of separated outdoor 'rooms' that surround the Federal Style Brick House. Each 'room' is distinct, and accented by ornaments and statuary. The gardens are surroundede by over 100 acres of woodlands,and uinique spaces including an apple orchard, a meadow,a children’s garden andagricultural fields that including a 2-acre organic vegetable farm run by The Food Project as a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) project.
Riverbend Conservation Area and River Road Trail
River Road trail is 0.9 miles of a level riverside trail with loops at the Indian River Bridge. Riverbend Trails climb up through old orchard and dense woods, connecting to Page School or to the upper Indian River. There is a side trail along the Indian River. River Road trail may be wet during very high tides.

Know Your Place: Ravenswood

The Trustees of Reservations invite you to come celebrate “Know Your Place: Ravenswood” month during November in Gloucester. Come check out our new Learning and Discovery Center or hike our newest addition to our trail map - the Children's Rocky Woodland! There are plenty of family oriented events, a new Quest treasure hunt, and our trails are always open for you to come and explore on your own.
Hamlin Reservation
This former coastal farmland now welcomes visitors to a broad salt marsh and a dike path that leads to a loop trail around Eagle Island. If you visit during hunting season, please make sure that you wear bright colors and a bell! Hunting is permitted on this site during the Fall.
