This property, located along the edge of the historic Common Pasture, supports a diversity of habitat, including open fields, upland forest and extensive freshwater marshlands.
Echo & Elizabeth How Reservation
Hamond Nature Center
The Hammond Nature Center is a venue commonly used for day camp and summer programs. It is located in the Wyman Woods Conservation Area and is accessed at the end of Everett Paine Blvd.
Linebrook Woods Conservation Area
Linebrook Woods Conservation Area is a 78-acre parcel of wooded uplands and wetlands with trails that connect to Willowdale State Forest to the south and the Dow/Bull Brook Reservoir area to the north. Nice wooded trails, mainly single track. There are three short bridges over creek crossings that support equestrian use. The Bay Circuit Trail crosses through this property.
Whittier Hill Reservation
Beverly Commons Conservation Area
Also known as Witches Woods. Beverly Commons is scenic woodland with trails and provides important habitat for wildlife. There is an extensive trail network on the property.
Thompson Street Reservation

The Thompson Street reservation features exposed bedrock, vernal pools, woodland and swamp. There are traces of many trails that used to be wagon paths for early settlers to access their woodlots, but have since been overgrown with scrub growth due to numerous fires. Allowed activities: horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, nature study, picnicking, snowshoeing.
Long Hill and Sedgwick Gardens
These 100 year old gardens are comprised of separated outdoor 'rooms' that surround the Federal Style Brick House. Each 'room' is distinct, and accented by ornaments and statuary. The gardens are surroundede by over 100 acres of woodlands,and uinique spaces including an apple orchard, a meadow,a children’s garden andagricultural fields that including a 2-acre organic vegetable farm run by The Food Project as a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) project.
