The Sisters In Stitches Joined By The Cloth will be hosting a Make & Take workshop where attendees can create their own fabric postcards at the Janet & William Ellery James Center at the Cape Ann Museum Green on Sunday, July 24. This hands-on event is presented in conjunction with In Her Mind’s Eye: Doris Elizabeth Prouty, an exhibition of quilts designed and sewn by Gloucester resident and self-taught African American quilter, Doris Elizabeth Prouty. Daisy Nell and Captain Stan visit the library to introduce Daisy’s new book [amazon 978-0615455075 inline] and lead a sing-along. Daisy Nell, native of Essex, MA, brings alive New England’s maritime history through traditional songs of the sea. A familiar voice on the North Shore music scene, she is known for her broad repertoire of traditional folk, chanteys, and contemporary songs. Her husband, Capt. Stan, adds his guitar and dobro to Daisy's banjo and guitar.

Learn about the Folly Cove Designers' process, then get to work in the Children's Activity Center. Explore the Folly Cove Designs, create prints using stamps, foam shapes and styrofoam. Also, examine a linoleum block and tools similar to those used by the original Designers. This drop-in program is free for members and Cape Ann residents or with Museum admission. Bring your toddler to enjoy story time and looking activities in the galleries, followed by art making. Tours leave on a rolling basis starting at 10:15 am. The last tour leaves at 10:55 am.
