Usher in spring with Women in Action on Saturday, April 6th from 9:30-11:30a.m. by helping The Food Project start seedlings in the greenhouse at Glen Urquhart School in Beverly. Women in Action is dedicated to increasing access to nutritious food and physical activity for underserved children. Last year, volunteers helped start 4,864 seedlings for The Food Project's North Shore farms in just one morning. Open to individuals, families, and friends (kids age 5 and up). The REAL (Reading • Educational Assistance • Learning) Program is holding their 2nd annual fundraising event, called "A REAL Night Out" at the Glen Urquhart School in Beverly, MA. The event will feature live and silent auctions, speakers, and entertainment. The event will be attneded by 250-350 community activists, local philanthropists, parents of children in the program, educational professionals, community leaders, city officials, and city school employees.

Throw on your running shoes and get ready for the Summer Solstice 5k Run/Walk! The Proceeds from this event will support two organizations – the Ipswich YMCA and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. This race is to honor Bill – a former member and previously on the board of directors of the YMCA who unfortunately lost his battle with Multiple Myeloma. This race is to support some of the causes that he supported in the hopes that they will be able to help others. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to run for a cause.
The ECTA annual ECTAthlon is friendly relay competition held at Bradley Palmer State Park in Topsfield and Hamilton and on private trails in Ipswich where teams or individuals compete in running, mountain biking, horseback riding and kayaking events. This unique event, which will be held on Saturday, June 4th, was envisioned as a way to bring diverse trail users together in a fun and exciting way, and to highlight the incredible network of trails in our area. The June 4th date also coincides with American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day, a series of nationwide events celebrating trails and trail access.
The Marblehead Community Charter Public School is hosting a LEGO Firewalk Challenge to support pediatric cancer research Sunday May 22nd 2016 1pm-3pm.
