William J Casey
8/25/1955-6/20/2015
Bill was a great person - son, brother, husband, grandfather and friend. He loved his family deeply and is missed by all. Bill enjoyed life - boating in the summer, snowmobiling in the winter, spending time with family and friends and walking his dog, Taz.
Bill was a respected man in both business and the community. Having grown up at the YMCA, Bill joined the board of directors of the Ipswich Y after he and his brother, Joe, rode wave runners from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Newburyport, MA raising money for the Y.
When Bill was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2012, he put his trust in Dana Farber and waged a valiant fight against it. Unfortunately, the treatments meant to put an end to the cancer, damaged his heart beyond repair.
This race is to honor Bill and kick off one of his favorite seasons – Boating Season with Jimmy Buffet on the stereo. We run this race to support some of the causes that he supported in the hopes that they will be able to help others.
We hope that running will this race with a little bit of Buffet in your day will help you have Changes in Attitudes as we begin the summer season.
Thank you for joining us for the first Summer Solstice 5K.
