Calling all campers! Camp Whirlygig is a summer camp at Wenham Museum in partnership with the Wenham Village Improvement Society (WVIS). Geared to young campers ages 4 – 10, Camp Whirlygig provides a caring and supportive environment to ensure a comfortable summer camp experience for young children. The Crane Estate’s 2,100-acre property is a spectacular expanse of salt marsh and barrier beach habitat situated in Ipswich and Essex, MA between the Atlantic Ocean, Ipswich River, and Essex Bay. Castle Hill, homebase for SummerQuest, encompasses many acres of salt marsh and dune habitat, hiking trails, a stunning hilltop mansion and other grand buildings that were part of the summer estate of a wealthy Chicago industrialist, formal gardens, and an expansive lawn rolling a half a mile to the sea. Our program for ages 5–14 is inspired by this exceptional property and builds on The Trustees’ expertise in land conservation, historic landscape and cultural resource preservation, coastal ecology, and restoration.

Campers are introduced to Appleton’s working farm and adventurous landscape through exciting, authentic educational activities. Montserrat College of Art Youth Academy is fun and challenging for students ages 8-11 (Minors) and an older group ages 12-15 (Majors). Daily classes will allow students to experience exciting creative endeavors while being introduced to a variety of techniques and skills.
Students may attend our Youth Arts Academy for a full day (9-11 am, 11:45 - 1:45 pm, 2-4 pm), or choose a morning class, mid-morning class, and/or afternoon class.

Crazy Cool Collage
Clip, cut, collect, compose, and collage creative constructions and assemblages made from a variety of materials. Student creations will include wall-sized drawings, sculptures with wood and found objects, as well as a combination of printmaking, photography, and magazine collage. We will look at the mixed mediums of Robert Rauschenberg, the cutting-edge pieces by the Twentieth Century’s greatest master of collage, Kurt Schwitters, and the crazy upside-down world of Julian Schnabel as we make and manipulate an artful array of free associations.
