Join Pastry Chef Sam Burns to delve into the world of honeybees and the various pastries and desserts that are made possible with the honey they produce. With over ten years of beekeeping experience, we will discuss the general practices of keeping bees in our northern climate and the process of harvesting honey from production hives.
Naturally sweetened dessert items will be served during class and we will bake a pastry together that highlights honey as a natural stand-alone in pastry. A collection of recipes that rely on honey will be provided to take home and try for yourself. This class will be largely discussion based, with plenty of eating and a baking demonstration, as well as a selection of desserts to take home. A gentle hive will be available for viewing outdoors if participants are so inclined.
