The La Vida Rock Gym invites parents to learn how to belay! Belaying refers to a variety of techniques used in climbing to exert friction on a climbing rope to ensure the safety of the climber and to ensure that a falling climber does not fall very far. If you have a child interested in rock climbing and find yourself nervously watching as your child climbs, take this course! It will enable you to become the belayer and you will be able to identify unsafe belaying proceedures when somebody else is holding the rope!
Open Gym at La Vida Rock Gym is open to the public and is a great place to get instruction or just practice to perfect climbing techniques. We welcome new and experienced climbers of all ages. We provide complementary belayers, harnesses, and basic instruction.
