Growing Strong | Free Youth Fitness Program

Growing Strong is a free youth fitness program hosted by Beverly Massachusetts Recreation Department

A free youth fitness class run by Beverly High School volunteers. Children are welcome to attend any number of the classes. Growing Strong is a new, free, youth program that aims to provide a welcoming, social environment for children to begin a healthy lifestyle. Fitness is so important, especially for young children. It not only benefits a child’s overall physical health but also improves self esteem, concentration and decreases stress.

Balch Park Street Hockey Games

Street Hockey as a community builder at Balch Park as part of Beverly Homecoming

This is a free event held at Balch Park, Balch Street, Beverly, with a focus on bonding and creating comradery within our community. For grades 5th-8th. Teams of 4 on 4 with a goalie. All equipment will be provided. Games will be held throughout the day. Team assignment and game time provided at close of registration. Each player will receive a free t-shirt. Water will be provided. Maximum number of participants is 50 players from Beverly. DJ for Music/Announcements.

Science of Soccer at MIT

Get ready for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and discover the physics behind soccer. Compete in juggling competitions and learn the secret behind the perfect penalty kick with MIT Professor John Bush. Refreshments will be served with music by Receita De Samba. Come to the Gloucester High School Field House as the Boston Red Sox Trophy Tour stops on Cape Ann! This event is open to the public and it gives peopel a chance to see the World Series trophy up close, and a chance to have their photo taken with the 2013 Championship trophy!

Enter the world of fencing with this FREE introductory class at Olympia Fencing!

The Witches Cup Bike Race

The Annual Witches Cup presents racing for both men and women at all levels.

Bring your own picnic and beverages -- prizes will be awarded for best presentation, food, and spirit of the sporting days of yesteryear! Look for your host, Essex Heritage Commissioner Forrester "Tim" Clark-- a former polo player--who will explain the game to you! Tim will be assisted by several current and past players who will give their own insights on this ancient and fascinating game.
