Build your own seaworthy cardboard boat, launch the boat at Lynch Park and race to the finish or at least see how long you stay afloat! This event takes place at Lynch Beach at Lynch Park. Questions about building a cardboard boat – do a little research at the library or Google it.
This year's event will start at 10am with Boats on Display. The captain's safety briefing will be at 10:30am and the regatta will start at ~11am. Awards will be presented following with our amazing partners at the Legion followed by the New England Patriots kick off at 1pm and incredible tunes on the deck at 2pm by Peter Hoare.
Newburyport Youth Services hosts a cardboard boat regatta on the waterfront at Joppa Park! Come join the fun with groups for all ages, team and families. Boats will race the clock in a heat of up to 3 boats from your division. Heats, if needed will be grouped by paddle type. Winners will advance to a final. Boats will paddle out and around a buoy and back to the shore. Boats must be propelled by paddle or hands. Paddles of any kind are allowed. One paddle per person.
