Sailing

The Essex Bay Sailing Club is a Non-profit club founded in 2000 reaches out to teach sailing to youngsters in the area surrounding Essex Bay. The goal of the club is to develop sailors who enjoy a strong knowlege of sailing while also learning to appreciate, and protect the beautiful resources of the Essex River.

Sail GHS Summer Program is a super excellent opportunity for kids to learn to sail and build racing skills in C 420's. The group meets Monday-Friday 8:00-11:30 a.m., from June through August at 23 Harbor Loop, Gloucester. Expert instruction and boats provided. Sail GHS is open to middle and high school students from anywhere.

Amesbury Youth Recreation offers over 30 different summer programs to choose from for ages 3 and up. Please see summer brochure for extensive list [download link below].  There are plenty of programs to choose from for kids 4 and up. 

Ocean Classroom Foundation Seafaring Camps offer kids aged 13-18 a chance to learn about the New England Coast aboard the Schooner Harvery Gamage in one or two week sessions. During their adventure, the focus will be on the marine environment, the diversity of life in the sea, and the history of the New England Coast. Through investigations led by the ship's education officer, students observe whales in their natural habitat, collect plankton, visit historic sites and museums, and share sea songs and stories. Kids will have fun as they learn about the world of the coast, and develop new skills in a team-building environment inherent to life aboard a schooner.
