The Children's Museum of New Hampshire and the NHSPCA team up to help kids learn about animal care! Kids and animals go together like peanut butter and jelly. From a young age, children are fascinated by animals and love to lavish affection on their pets. Sometimes, they can be a little overzealous, though, and that’s where humane education comes in, helping kids understand the best ways to interact with their pets.
As part of a new partnership, the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire will be hosting a 4-week class, Caring for Small Animals, taught by humane educators from the New Hampshire SPCA. This 75-minute class will be held on Wednesdays at 3:45 pm from November 6 – December 4 at the Children’s Museum in Dover.
Children ages 6-11 are invited to participate and learn how to care for small pets such as guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, ferrets, birds, chinchillas and mice. Friendly and healthy animals from the NHSPCA Humane Education program will visit the class each week. Kids will learn more about each animal and the creative ways they can enrich the lives of these engaging pets.
To register, please call the museum at 603-742-2002. The class is limited to 12 children to ensure a high-quality, personalized experience.
