Ring in the Year of the Rat with free admission to celebrate Lunar New Year! Explore Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese traditions while enjoying a variety of activities, demonstrations, and performances throughout the day.
On Saturday, February 1, 2020, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), offers free admission for its Lunar New Year Celebration (10 am–5 pm).
The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), celebrates Lunar New Year and the Year of the Rat with free admission all day on Saturday, February 1. Visitors are invited to explore Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese art and traditions while enjoying a variety of performances throughout the Museum—including lion dances performed by the Gund Kwok Asian Women Lion and Dragon Dance Troupe and Kung Fu demonstrations by the Wah Lum Kung Fu and Tai Chi Academy.
Visitors can participate in Saebae, a traditional bowing and greeting ceremony practiced in Korea during New Year celebrations; go on a tour highlighting works in the Art of Asia galleries, offered in English, American Sign Language and Mandarin; watch demonstrations of Vietnamese martial arts; and drop in on hands-on family art-making activities.
