Grab your pup and get to the ninth annual charity dog wash hosted by Care One at Essex Park, a rehab and nursing facility on Essex Street in Beverly, to benefit Vested Interest in K9's, Inc, a nonprofit dedicated to providing bulletproof and stab protective vests for police dogs throughout the country.
Dogs will be treated to a shampoo, rinse, towel dry and complimentary bandanna for a $5 donation, while they and their owners can check out a demonstration K9 Officer and their department’s dog. There will be a barbecue and a marketplace full of local vendors, as well as a puppy palooza raffle.
Stacey Robinson, the admissions director at Essex Park, says the 2018 event was a huge success with carloads of chew toys, pet towels, pet food and treats were collected to donate to Salem’s Northeast Animal Shelter.
“This event has always been so popular and well received by the community that Essex Park continues to host it as an annual summer event. Our goal is always to raise enough money to be able to cover the cost of one vest for a law enforcement dog in need of that extra level of protection,” said Robinson, adding that she was happy to report they reached that goal once again.
