Come to Glen Urquhart School in Beverl y Massachusetts for a special weekly drop-in pre-k program! Get out your magnifying lenses and prepare to get your hands dirty while we take a closer look at the world around us. Together will set out as scientists and adventurers, using our senses, our observational skills, and our ever-present curiosity to investigate and explore!
We will ask ourselves: what can we see, smell, hear, and feel on the GUS campus? What do we find interesting? What do we have questions about? What do we already know, and what do we want to know? We will visit many sites on campus in our quest to uncover the mysteries of the natural world. From the nature trail and wetlands, to the greenhouse, the school library, art studio, and makerspaces, we will conduct hands-on research, and discover many ways to express our questions, ideas, and findings. Along the way we will make our own maps, draw and label pictures of the places we've visited, write stories about our journey, make charts and graphs to track what we've learned, and see if we can find new and creative ways to share our findings with the GUS community.
This program is designed for children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old to attend with a caregiver present. Families are encouraged to register in advance for all three weeks of the program, and can choose to attend once or twice a week. The program is free of charge and open to all!
