Rockport Music invites you to a FREE concert at their Shalin Liu Performance Center! Now in its third year, Shalin Liu’s annual Free Live Opera Concerts continues this summer with Maestro Michael Recchiuti leading us on a journey through the operas of the greatest German composer of the twentieth century, Richard Strauss.
With internationally renowned singers, Elizabeth Blancke-Biggs and Cameron Schutza, we will hear the magical music from Strauss’ greatest operas: Salome, Der Rosenkavalier, Daphne, Die Frau ohne Schatten, and Ariadne auf Naxos. The music of this genius, whose life spanned from the time of our Civil War through the dropping of the atomic bomb, is among the highest, transfiguring achievements of Western civilization, rich in cultural depth and resonance.
