The Camp Kent Environmental Center (CKEC) is a nature center and 16 -acre parcel of conservation land established by the Town of Amesbury in 1997. CKEC is connected to the adjacent Powow River Conservation Area and Lake Gardener.
This area includes a variety of habitats including vernal wetlands, marsh, meadow, forest, and scrub along the Powow River and Lake Gardener. More than 100 bird species, a wide variety of reptiles and amphibians, and mammals including fox, coyote, white tailed deer, woodchuck, red and gray squirrel, fisher, beaver, porcupine, and moose have been observed on the property. During the summer the site is the location of our Summer Environmental Program and boating programs. Access to the property is via the Battis Farm parking lot located on South Hampton Road.
