The Upper School students at Shore Country Day School were challenged to calculate an estimate for the amount of concrete used to build the 2nd story floor and roof in the new building.
Leo Hogan, Project Superintendent of the Lawrence A. Griffin Center for Creativity, challenged the Upper School students to enter a contest -- Shore's Concrete Pour Contest. The objective was to find a reasonable and close estimate to the amount of concrete used to build the second story floor and the lower roof combined.
Rachel Simmons, author, educator and leading expert in female aggression will speak at Glen Urquhart School on December 12 at 7:00 p.m. Simmons is the author of New York Times bestsellers Odd Girl Out: The Hidden Culture of Aggression in Girls and The Curse of the Good Girl: Raising Authentic Girls with Courage and Confidence. She is a graduate of Vassar College and the winner of a Rhodes scholarship to Oxford University, where she began studying female aggression.
