Shepherds’ Play

The Oberufer “Shepherds Play,” a Nativity play, is once again offered by faculty of the Waldorf School at Moraine Farm. It shows twice on Thursday, Dec. 17: at 4:30 and 7:00 p.m.  The play focuses on three shepherds who hear of the birth of Jesus and travel to bring him gifts.

Ilse Kolbuzowski, a former Waldorf Eurythmy teacher, shares this about the three Oberufer plays, of which the “Shepherds Play” is one:

Egg Dyeing and Decorating

Celebrate Spring by syeing eggs with your family at the Cape Ann Waldorf School

On Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Waldorf School at Moraine Farm in Beverly MA will host an Easter egg decorating and dyeing event. Kids will create pretty eggs with a variety of coloring ideas and embellishments with all sorts of crafts supplies. Kids can create Easter eggs as fun, interesting, and unique as they are!

STEM at work at Glen Urquhart School in Beverly

At Glen Urquhart School in Beverly, MA sixth grader students design and engineer robotic Mars Rovers out of Lego systems. Students research NASA and they use Mars Curiosity Rover - Jet Propulsion Laboratory  to select such tasks as: find evidence of water, drill for samples, move Mars rocks, and communicate with NASA.

The students are asked to design the next rover, choose its specific tasks, and write the programming code they will use to test their mission. They are encouraged to modify, through trial and error, their robots and programming code until they accomplish their goals.

Glen Urquhart Welcomes New Head of School

Head of School Glen Urquhart School in Beverly MA

Glen Urquhart School is pleased to announce that the school’s board of trustees unanimously approved the appointment of David Liebmann as the next head of school, effective July 1, 2016. Liebmann will succeed Raymond C. Nance, the interim head, who previously served as head of school for 15 years. Liebmann will become the seventh head of the K-8 independent school, which will celebrate its 40th year of operation next year.

Fifth graders at Glen Urquhart School, in Beverly, spend their year exploring the theme “The Land.” They climb a mountain, visit a granite quarry, look for signs of the last ice age in the local landscape, devise and construct models of earthquake-resistant buildings, and learn about how humans use the resources of our earth. Their capstone experience is a 4-day stay at Chewonki’s Outdoor Classroom in Wiscasset, Maine.

Kids and Teens 2-Day Baking Workshop

Summers are a blast at Eurostoves! Our summer kids classes run Monday through Friday (with the exception of July 4th) from 10AM-1PM. You can sign up for one or two classes, the whole week, or several weeks. Each week is a different theme and feature completely new menus for 2016. Classes are intended for kids and teens ages 8 and up. All classes are taught in our spacious, state of the art teaching kitchen and are led by professional chef-instructors.
