Best iPad, iPhone Apps for Kids!

Best iPhone, iPad Apps for Kids free (or cheap) iPhone apps and games for kids

Load up the iPhone, iPod touch or iPad with some of the most popular interactive games and activities to entertain toddlers, preschoolers, and big kids. These fun educational apps are packed with features to get kids excited about learning, and they’re super-easy to download and use!

Britannica Kids Apps Series has some seriously impressive apps. Full of information, activities and games, these apps definitely live up to the Encyclopedia Britannica name. Developed to educate and entertain covering the most popular topics studied at school. Kids get a thrill impressing family and friends with their newly-acquired knowledge.

Glow Puzzle - This fun brain teaser game has over 260 levels. The goal of this simple yet very addictive neon themed puzzle game, is to connect all the dots in the puzzle using a continuous path. Great app for all ages.

iBird Backyard + This interactive guide helps kids learn the bird species in the backyard. This app contains illustrations, photos, bird calls and comprehensive facts to help identify and enjoy 234 North American bird species.

Stack the States - This app makes geography fun. Players are rewarded with cartoon characters of the 50 states by answering questions correctly. Stack states up to the line and earned a state and move on to the next level. The questions range from state shapes, capitals, and neighboring states. Kids learn the size and shape of states. This is an app we turn to often.

Star Walk - Star Walk is another app we turn to just about daily. This award-winning education app allows users to easily locate and identify 20,000+ objects in the night sky. The 360-degree, touch control star map displays constellations, stars, planets, satellites, and galaxies currently overhead from anywhere on Earth. Highly praised and the winner of a 2010 Apple Design Award.

NASA - We use this app in conjunction with the NASA Kids club to search extensive selection of dynamically updated information, images and videos from various online NASA sources.

Math Bingo - This is an app we turn to just about every day to target basic math skills. With the new features and flexibility, kids enjoy practicing math concepts everyday.

Helicopter Taxi - Kids will delight in being the navigators of their very own helicopter adventures. Using the camera on your iPhone, it looks like it's really flying across the room with your child. This is a must have app if your kids are into transportation and making things go.

Disney Fairies Fly - Kids can guide a chosen fairy through a beautifully rendered Pixie Hollow, collecting treasures, avoiding obstacles, and creating adventures. App also includes and exploration of Tinker's Nook to collect wallpapers and see still shots from the movies, plus mini videos.

Tic Tac Toe, Letter of the Day, and Sound Sorting - is a great little bundle of three apps - teach a range of skills from letter sounds to more complicated vowel sounds and syllables.

Some of the early learning apps aren't the kind of apps a preschooler can play independently right away so you'll have to get involved in the learning process. The apps aren't completely intuitive to a preschooler's clicking habits and reading abilities. Chances are, you'll have to walk them through the apps a few times before they can get the hang of it. And even then, they still might require your help to truly get the full learning experience. You might learn a thing or two yourself.
