Throughout the month of September this year, Salem residents will have a chance to experience the Museum of Science for free thanks to the Norman H. Read Trust! Salem Residents are encouraged to come to Boston to explore MOS Exhibit Halls, catch an IMAX movie in the Mugar Omni Theater, and see one of the three shows in the Charles Hayden Planetarium!
Passes have been mailed to each Salem household and are valid for four indvidual admissions.Additional passes are available at the Salem City Hall, the Salem Public Library and the Salem Parks and Recreation Department. Salem Public Schools will also distribute passes to students. Redeeming the passes requires showing proof of Salem residence using a valid drivers license or other form of ID at the Museum of Science.
In addition to the free admission offered by the Norman H. Read Trust, free public transportation to the muserum has been arranged by the Trust with the MBTA on September 15 & 22. The 10:38 am trains out of Salem to Boston will be free of charge. Residents will be accompanied on the train by Salem's Mayor Driscoll and her family on the 15th. State Representative John Keenan and family will ride the train with residents on the 22nd!
Norman H. Read was a close friend and colleague of Museum founder Bradford Washburn, and the Norman H. Read Trust was established in his name to be innovative supporter of science education in Salem.
