All you have to do is place your donation of non-perishable food items next to your mailbox prior to mail delivery on Saturday, May 13. Dedicated letter carriers will collect these generous donations as they carry out their postal routes, ensuring that the food reaches local food banks, pantries, shelters, and churches where it will make a difference in the lives of those in need. The Letter Carriers' food drive is held annually on the second Saturday in May in 10,000 cities and towns in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam. Hunger affects 1 in 8 Americans, including millions of children, senior citizens and veterans. In the 30 years since it began, the food drive has collected about 1.82 billion pounds of food for struggling residents.
