Merrohawke Nature School, located in downtown Newburyport, is offering a new, entirely outdoors afterschool program at its field site in Newbury on Boston Road. Across 30 private acres, kids explore many different ecological habitats including a maritime forest, rocky ledges, wetlands, salt marsh, and the tidal Little River.
Raccoon Club kids experience the beauty of winter season as it shifts into spring while learning naturalist skills such as leafless tree ID, tracking, snow crafting, games, and, of course, taking time to just be outdoors and soak in some healthy fresh air with friends. Raccoon Club meets on Monday or Tuesday afternoon from 3:30-5 p.m for kids in grades 1-4 through late Spring. Newbury Elementary School students may take the bus directly to Four Rock (82 Boston Rd.).
