Rockport Music hosts two young composer/musicians for a FREE recital at their beautiful waterfront performing arts center in Rockport Massachusetts! Szilvia Mikó and Matthew Woodard are young musicians/composers who will perform works by Beethoven, Copland, Khachaturian, Howard Frazin, as well as compositions of their own.
Award-winning pianist Szilvia Mikó has appeared extensively throughout her native Hungary, as well as other parts the Europe Union and United States. A graduate of the Music Academy Budapest and Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, she is currently a Postgraduate Collaborative Piano Fellow at the Bard College Conservatory in New York.
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Bard College, Matthew Woodard is a violin student of Laurie Smulker and an avid chamber musician and composer, Matthew is an alumnus of From the Top, and has participated in many summer festivals, and his viola concerto was premiered with the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra in 2012, with Matthew as soloist. His most recent commission, a woodwind trio, was premiered in April of 2013 at the Rivers School in Weston, as part of their conservatory’s 35th Annual Seminar on Contemporary music for the Young.
