Sally Frank’s Farmers’Market is entering its 23-year, connecting farmers, handmade food producers, artisans, nonprofits and local businesses, entertainers, and educational groups to the Melrose community. The market runs every Thursday from June 8-October 26, 2-7pm.
This year market goers will find more fresh from two new farms in addition to Dick’s Market Garden, Moonlight Farm and Kelly’s Family Farm. Other returning farms include, Shady Pine Farm bringing hormone free meat, Ackermann Maple Farm, Shagbark farm, Laszlo Family Farm; also Robert’s Seafood, Bagel Land of Winchester, Deano’s Pasta, Habibi, the Popover Lady, and Jennifer Lee’s Bakery bringing gluten-free and allergen free baked goods. New, delicious vendors include the Bread Shop from Wakefield, Ava’s from Arlington, Mr. Tamole from Dorchester, and Pure Pastry from Beverly.
The market has an average of 600 to 800 visitors per week, including families, the elderly and SNAP shoppers. Each market features live music from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and cooking demonstrations. Young visitors are invited to join Club Sprouts, where they answer a clue of the day, taste the featured fruit or vegetable and earn a stamp in their Club Sprouts passport. Five stamps wins a prize.
LOCATION:
The market is held outdoors in Bowden Park at the junction of W. Emerson, and Vinton Streets, adjacent to the Cedar Park Commuter Rail stop.
