Engineers and engineering, here are suggestions for CTY summer, online, and family programs for kids in grades 2-12 that will appeal to problem solvers, creative thinkers, and budding engineers.

Today is Global Day of the Engineer—a time to celebrate the people who dream, design, and create elegant solutions to the world’s problems.

In honor of engineers and engineering, here are suggestions for CTY summer, online, and family programs for kids in grades 2-12 that will appeal to problem solvers, creative thinkers, and budding engineers.

Imagine a world without engineers and it would be an existence without clean water (Abel Wolman) or flying machines (Leonardo Da Vinci) or the Brooklyn Bridge (Emily Roebling). We’d have no bulletproof vests (Stephanie Kwolek), no Apple personal computers (Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs), no windshield wipers (Mary Anderson), and no skyscrapers (Fazlur Rahman Khan).

“Engineering is the closest thing to magic that exists in the world,” said Elon Musk, founder and lead designer of SpaceX and co-founder of Tesla. He ought to know. He’s an engineer.
