Salem Public Library the library is hosting weekly chess nights where players of all ages can play and learn from each other. Whether you're new to the game or a veteran player, all skill levels welcome, and basic instruction will be provided. Pizza will also be provided! Open to all ages.
Have you always wanted to play D&D? Are you already an avid D&D player? Whether you have been playing for years or are new to the game the library invites you to join our new club. Come to this ongoing campaign using Dragons of Stormwreck Isle. Do you have a character you created? Come join our campaign.

If you are in grades 4-7 and answered yes to any of these questions, join the library's Graphic Novel Club today! We meet monthly from January to June. Our first book will be Freestyle by Gale Galligan. Pick up a copy today and read it for our first meeting on January 17th at 4 pm. Hope to see you there!
Play D&D for five sessions with Game Master Erick Gordy from Quest Master's Guild: We’ll make all the characters together at session one. No need to bring your own. We will be starting at level 3, Max HP. For setting, you will have a choice. We can do whichever the majority want to do from the following (in difficulty order): Fungeons and Flagons, Settling Debt, Seven Plunders of the World, Sunset on Avalon, Rime or Reason.
Led by our spirited visionary dungeonmaster, Asa B., this game will challenge you to use every wit in your wizardly (or elfin, or trollish) bag of tricks. See you there! Join any time, just please be sure to register before you come.
The Young Gloucester Scientist's Club meets frequently in and around Cape Ann to explore scientific subjects through experiential learning when possible. Hosted by the Sawyer Free Library the club is designed to nurture interest in science in a group setting. Late August's session is a day outing to the Burnham Field Community Garden.
Ages 11-16: Boston-based author/illustrator Jonathan Todd (the upcoming Scholastic graphic novel “Timid") is back, this time for a two-hour workshop on writing and drawing cartoons geared for laughs. If you’re between 11 and 18, you’re invited to join us for a fantasy-filled RPG afternoon! Sign-up to explore the world of tabletop RPGs guided by Marcus deLemos. We’ll provide you with everything you need (including refreshments for our long journey), and all you need to bring is your sense of adventure!
The Chess Club at the library will be an informal gathering of students interested in playing chess with others. A knowledge of how to play chess is recommended. Students in 3rd – 6th grade are invited to sign up. The chess boards and pieces will be provided. No instruction will be available at this event. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Georgetown Library.
